Greek Goddesses Goddess

Goddess Graphics developed it's name from a plaque given by my best friend, Katrina for my 31st birthday after I told her the following story.

The most wonderful gentle man that I work with, Serge, stands up when I enter the room. He bows so gracefully and I smile because we are at work. It is a bit different. All the other guys in the office tease him, and so they started standing up too. Soon, it was like "The Wave" when I went to sharpen my pencil. We all laughed and giggled. One client asked me, "Who do you think you are, a goddess?"
I replied, "Why yes, I am." and that is the story I told Katrina and for my birthday she had a plaque made that said "Goddess Suzon". I loved it and when I opened my own business, I was searching for a name and it came to me...
Goddess Graphics, empowering women, while giving tribute to those who came before me, who live on after me and to succeed in the life that they live. Welcome.

How Love (Eros) came to the Soul (Psyche):

Psyche was the daughter of an unknown king. Her beauty was so extraordinary that men would worship her instead of loving her.
Aphrodite then, out of jealousy for her beauty, sent Eros, her son, to make Psyche fall in love with some unworthy man. In the same time oracle said that Psyche must wed a horrible monster on the top of a mountain. Her parents, crying, brought her to the mountine where she felt asleep
and then carried away by the wind to a beautiful castle. This was castle of Eros, who instead of obeying Aphrodite, fell in love with Psyche
and visited her every night, although never allowing Psyche to see him. However, following the advices dictated by jealousy of her two sisters,
Psyche managed to know who her lover was. Eros, then, deserted her, and when their love was discovered Psyche suffered the wrath of Aphrodite, who mistreated her in many ways. She even send her to the underworld to ask Proserpina for some of her beauty. Psiche managed to comeback alive, although opened the box with the beauty and immideately felt in a deep sleep.

In the same time Eros was suffering from being along without his lover. Entire world become cold and distant without love an affection and Aphrodite herself begin to worry. And Psyche would have slept for ever, had not Eros, now recovered from his sickness, come to her and awakened her, which had to happen. For there is no place for Love to dwell except in the Soul, who animates all things, and there is no meaning for the Soul to live and be awake except for the sake of Love. So Eros shut the cloud of sleep up again in the box and roused Psyche with the harmless prick of an arrow. Zeus then called a council of the gods in which he informed his decision, that Eros was to marry Psyche, possess her and cherish her for all times to come. This is how Psyche, through Eros' office, entered Heaven and gained immortality. For as Love cannot dwell in any other place but the Soul, the Soul cannot enter Heaven, but through Love. The child of Eros & Psyche was named Pleasure.

Where did he come from

Aphrodite is sometimes considered to be the mother of Eros (Love), but this is a most disputed matter. Eros is often considered one of the first to
have come into being. It has been said that there was no race of immortals until Eros caused all things to mingle, and that Nyx (Night) laid an Egg in Erebus (the Darkness of the Underworld) and in time Eros was born. According to others, Eros was one of the first to be born out of Chaos, the kind of void that was the original state of the universe. Some say that not Aphrodite but Ilithyia, the goddess of childbirth, daughter of Zeus & Hera, was his mother. But still others say that Zephyrus (the West Wind) was his father and Iris (the rainbow, a heavenly messenger) his mother. And there are also those who say that he was born out of Chronos (Time), who is said to be the same as the Titan Cronos, father of the first OLYMPIANS, and identify him with Phanes 1, who was considered to be the first-born and eternal god. Eros & Psyche (Soul) loved each other, but she was not supposed to see the lover who was visiting her by night.

Love and health:

Fostering Love among the most contrary qualities inside the body, such as cold and heat, bitter and sweet, dry and moist,
was the skill which Asclepius developed to such a high pitch. The balance (love between this body attributes) creats perfect health.
When love is not there, imbalance create sickness.

Love and money

In the same way there are those who involve themselves in acts of love with a view of gaining money, position, office or Fame, performing a vulgar charade or a farce leading to shame, reproach and even scandal, for they will renounce Love when the money is gone or the position lost. But the same gestures performed by true lovers for the sake of Love himself never lead to these things, and the lovers never have to regret their conduct.
And while the merchants of Love have to act secretly as if they were thieves, the others find the general approval when showing their affection openly, for there is never shame in true love.

Love and art

And when Apollo invented archery, and medicine and divination, or when the Muses created music, or when Hephaestus worked on
his metals, or when Athena was weaving, or when Zeus was guiding gods and men, they did all these things in such a way that they could be judged to be the disciples of Love, attaching themselves to beauty and having no concern with ugliness, which is the dominion not of Love but of Ananke (Necessity). It is said that even the gods give special honour to Love and to the courage that comes with him.

And that is why they allowed Alcestis to return from the Underworld, for she had died for love of her husband. But they did not give Orpheus his wife back, because they considered Orpheus' attempt to bring her back from the Underworld, the quest of a coward, because he was not willing
to die for her but entered the Underworld alive, and alive he left both Underworld and dead wife. In the same way, they say, Achilles was honoured and sent to the Islands of the Blest, because putting his love for Patroclus above everything else, avenged him, and fearless sought his
enemy knowing that he would die soon after killing Hector, the son of King Priam 1 of Troy. And that is why it is said that there is no sort of courage more respected by the gods, than the one coming from Love.

They say, Eros came after Chaos, and is one of the oldest gods having no parents. But others think that Eros, being Aphrodite's son, came first afterwards and is one of the youngest gods. Eros is Love-those who are with him they treasure him, and those who are not with him they covet him, because he is a marvel and a delight, and all tenderness, elegance and grace come from him, who is the ornament of all creatures. And since Love
came to be- all the arts and beauty appeared in the world since love have no concern with ugliness, which is the dominion not of Love but of Ananke (Necessity).
